American Revolutionary War Figure. During the British retreat from Concord on the first day of the American Revolution, a number of Minute Men being pursued by British regulars took refuge in Russell's house. He was the last to make it to the door and was bayoneted several times. The regulars then entered the house and killed any rebels they could find. He was one of fifty Americans either killed or mortally wounded on that day. The Jason Russell House, which still stands today, was the site of the bloodiest fighting of that day.
