BURGE, BARBARA SVENDSEN, 86, died July 26, 2011. She grew up in Ashland, KS and was a graduate of Colorado Woman's College in Denver, CO. Barbara married James W. Svendsen who died in 1974 and John M. Burge, Jr. who died in 2006. She was a retired corporate secretary from Paul Semonin Company, was a member of the DAR and St. Francis in the Fields Episcopal Church. She is survived by her son, James William Svendsen; daughters, Virginia Vivian (Talbot) of Yorktown, VA and Karen Houtchens (Kevin) of Lawrenceburg, IN; and three grandchildren, Lydia Preczewski, Paul Vivian and Mallory Houtchens. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at St. Francis In The Fields Episcopal Church, 6710 Wolf Pen Branch Road, Harrods Creek, KY. Burial will be in Ashland, KS, by Myatt Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Francis In The Fields Episcopal Church.
