Lydia Mae Sizemore was born on March 3, 1909, the fifth child of Hillery Walter Sizemore and Minnie Ida Carter Sizemore at their home in Pumpkin Valley near Eidson (Hawkins County), TN. The family pronounced her name more like "Lye-dee".

In the late 1920s, she married Cay Bart Scott, Sr. of the area. Their first son Kenneth was born January 18, 1928. A daughter Imogene was born about 1932 and died May 27, 2007. Their second son, Cay Bart Scott, Jr. was born and died February 19, 1934.

Not too long after the birth and death of their second son, she diagnosed with Bright's Disease, a form of kidney failure. There were no successful treatments available at the time and she died June 3, 1937. She along with her infant son are buried in the Sizemore Cemetery on the homeplace in Pumpkin Valley.
