James Richard Palmer, son of William Richard and Flora Harvey Palmer, was born Aug. 13, 1890, in Monroe County and died in Tampa, Fla., Jan. 6, 1965. He lived in Monroe county all his life with the exception of two years he lived in Denver, Colo., with his parents. He returned to Albia and on April 19, 1916, he was married to Maude Jones. They spent their married life in Albia. He was an automobile dealer for 50 years before he retired in 1957. He had the longest continuous dealership in Monroe County. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. Surviving are his widow; a daughter, Mrs. Charlotte Ann Bohy of Tampa, a brother, Ben Palmer of Albia; and two sisters, Mrs. Ada Longaker and Mrs. William Marshall of Glenwood, Minn. The funeral was Jan. 12 at the Humeston Funeral Home with Donald Plum in charge. Burial was in Oak View Cemetery.

Palmer Dies Wednesday
James R. Palmer of Albia died Wednesday night at Tampa, Fla.
Palmer, 74, was a retired automobile dealer. He and his wife were spending the winter in Tampa with a daughter, Mrs. Charlotte Bohy.
He was married to the former Maude Jones. They lived at the Doyle Trailer Court on Benton Avenue East.
Surviving are his widow and daughter; a brother, Ben Palmer of Albia; and two sisters in Minnesota.
Palmer was a lifelong resident of Albia.
The body is being returned to the Humeston Funeral Home.
