Clara L. Barshinger, 89, passed peacefully on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at Dallastown ManorCare. She was the wife of Philip H. Barshinger who passed away in 2001.

She was born March 13, 1922 in Dallastown, the daughter of the late Martin P. and Mary (Grove) Mellinger.

Mrs. Barshinger graduated from Dallastown High School in 1939 and worked at York Casket, retiring in 1984. She was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Dallastown, where she was president of the Ladies Bible Class for 28 years.

She is survived by her children, Suzanne Mease and her husband Richard of York, Baron Barshinger and his wife Lisa of York, Blaine Barshinger of York, Martha Kaplan and her husband Leonard of York; sister, Mary Herbst, El Paso, Texas; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sons, Philip Dennis Barshinger, John Curtis Barshinger; twin daughters, Mary Ann and Ellen Louise Barshinger; and her brother, John Mellinger.

Burial will be in Dallastown Union Cemetery.
