Donald W. Matz, 81, of Bethlehem, passed away at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Muhlenberg on Wednesday, July 13, 2011. He was the husband of the late June R. (Zimmerman) Matz, who died in 2001. Born at home in Bethlehem, Don was the son of the late William T. and Anna E. (Wismer) Matz. A graduate of Bethlehem Vocational Technical School and Bethlehem Business College, he served in the US Marines during the Korean War. He was a builder and remodeler for over 50 years, retiring just 5 years ago. Don was a member of the Lehigh Valley Civil War Round Table, an officer of the Bethlehem Suburban Kiwanis Club, and a member of Ebenezer Bible Fellowship Church, where he was an elder, a deacon, and a senior high Sunday School teacher. He was also a catcher for the church softball team, and was a chairman and leader for the Boys Brigade. Survivors: Daughter, Deborah J. Matz of Bethlehem; brother, Rev. William W. Matz and his wife, Mary of Nazareth; sister, Mary E. Greenzweig and her husband, Edwin of Bethlehem; and his dog, Bruiser. Services: A celebration of Dons life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 23, at Ebenezer Bible Fellowship Church, 3100 Hecktown Road, Bethlehem, PA 18020. Arrangements entrusted to the Long Funeral Home, Bethlehem.
