Lucile Phillips Millholllon of San Angelo passed into the arms of our Lord on Sunday, July 24, 2011, at the age of 82. Lucile was born in San Angelo to Abner and Lucile Phillips on Nov. 7, 1928, and married to Homer Lee Millhollon on Aug. 2, 1953, and was a lifelong resident of San Angelo except for the years she was away at college. She graduated with a masters degree and bachelors of arts in music education from the University of North Texas.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, at Johnson's Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 28, in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Martin officiating. Pallbearers are Brandon Benge, Larry Edgington, Calvin Featherston, Griff Griffin, Bradley Miles and Bill Spraggins. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Adult 7 "Challengers" Sunday school department. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery.

Lucile never lost her love of music and sang in the Sanctuary Choir and the Glory Choir at First Baptist Church where she was a lifelong member. Lucile taught music in the Ballinger and San Angelo public school systems, as well as giving private piano lessons and keyboard classes from her home for many years. She was the director of the children's choir program at FBC for approximately 35 years and was the pianist for many choirs and Sunday school classes when needed.

Lucile worked in the county elections office from 1976 to 1994 and was the Tom Green County Elections Administrator from 1986 to 1994. She was also active in the Shannon Auxiliary, San Angelo Symphony Chorale, San Angelo Music Teachers Association and was a past-president of the Philharmonic Society.

In addition to her parents, Lucile was preceded in death by her husband, Homer, on July 24, 1985. She is survived by her children, Lisa Russell of Albuquerque, N.M., Jeffrey Millhollon of San Angelo, Phyllis Benge and husband Joe of Millersview and Drew Millhollon, also of Albuquerque. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Brandon Benge, Stacy Benge, Jennifer Markle (and husband Ernie) and Jacquelyn,

Jessica and Aaron Russell; and five great-grandchildren. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Carl Anderton, nurse Penny and Dr. Vayden Stanley for their compassion, care and concern for Mother over the last several years and the nurses and aides and staff of Shannon 5 North for their loving care while Mom was with them. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society ; American Heart Association ; the Muscular Dystrophy Organization; or a charity of choice. "Well done, good and faithful servant!
