Algie Gwinn Wingo, 87, of Inman, SC, passed away Monday, January 15, 2007 at his residence.

Born in Spartanburg, SC, on March 10, 1919; son of the late Landrum Spartan Wingo (1877–1949) and Corrie Edna Gwinn Wingo (1881–1971); husband of Rachel Harmon Wingo (1917–2007).

Retired from Lyman Printing and Finishing, was a U.S. Army veteran serving during WWII with the 13th Armored Division in Rhineland, Central Europe, was a member of Inman United Methodist Church, and a member of American Legion Post # 45.

Other survivors include a daughter, Kay Ownbey (Bud); sons, Jerry Wingo (Sandra) and Randy Wingo; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Also predeceased by siblings, Alfred Bryant Wingo (1900–1935), Paul Booker Wingo (1903–1987), Archie Landrum Wingo (1905–1988), Leita Wingo Rhyne (1908–2003), Russell Bomar Wingo (1911–1989), Revelie June Wingo Brannon (1914–2002), and James Henry Wingo (1922–1994).

Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 18, 2007, at Inman United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Ron Leonard. Burial followed in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
