Mrs. Nick (Catherine) Ruba, 94, of Remsen, died unexpectedly
Thursday, July 27, 1989, at the Happy Siesta Retirement Home in Remsen.

Services were 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen. Her son, Monsignor Nicholas J. Ruba of Alton, and her grandson, the Rev. Terry Roder of
Sioux City, officiated, along with the Rev. Reynold Sigwarth of Dubuque, Monsignor Prank Brady of Sioux City, and the Rev. John J. McGuirk of Remsen. Burial was in
the parish cemetery.

Mrs. Ruba was born Sept. 15, 1894 in rural Remsen, the daughter of John and Susan (Hansen) Loutsch. She was raised and educated in the Remsen area. She married Nick Ruba Feb. 3,1915 at Remsen. The couple farmed south of town until 1924, then north of town until they retired and moved into Remsen in 1953. He died May 28,1973. She had been at the Happy Siesta Retirement Home since October of 1982.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Christian Mothers and Catholic Daughters of America.

Survivors include six sons, Irvin, Roman, Harold, Melvin, and James of Remsen, and Monsignor Nicholas J. of Alton; two daughters, Mrs. Joe (Rosemary) Roder of Remsen and
Mrs. Robert (Doris)Seuntjens of Kingsley; 29 grandchildren,
46 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, five
brothers, Andrew, Dominic, John, Mike and Emil, and three sisters; Mrs. J.P. (Mary) Schroeder, Mrs. William (Anna) Conrad and Mrs. John (Margaret) Ritz Sr.
