Cecil W. Allen Dies
Cecil W. Allen, 74, former Fort Benton homesteader, died in a Great Falls hospital Thursday evening.
Allen was born Jan. 19, 1895 in Indiana. In 1910 he arrived in Fort Benton where he homesteaded. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War I. He retired from farming in 1951 and moved to Fort Benton, where he lived until a year ago. He had been a resident of Eagles Manor for the past year. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Fort Benton.
Survivors include the widow, Durie B., of Eagles Manor; sons, James A., of Fort Benton, and Vance D., of Great Falls; a daughter, Mrs. Lavina Muncie, of Great Falls; four brothers, Howard C., of Fort Benton, Ross J. and J. W., of Fort Morgan, Colo., and Durwood E., of Fairbury, Neb.; a sister, Mrs. Esther McDonald, of Great Falls; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Don Robinson in the First Christian Church of Fort Benton Monday afternoon. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery.
