Jay W. Allen Died Nov. 11th
Jay W. Allen, 75, Fort Morgan, Colorado, died in the Fort Morgan hospital Sunday, Nov. 11, after a short illness.
He was born Sept. 23, 1904, in Markle, Indiana. He moved west with his family in 1910, where his parents took up a homestead in Pleasant Valley, north of Fort Benton, Mont. He graduated from Fort Benton High School. In 1929 he moved to Conrad, Mont., where he managed Buttrey's Service Station and later the Farmer's Union Oil Co.
He married Charlotte Thompson of Brady, Mont., in 1938. They moved to Fort Morgan in 1950 where he worked for Skelly Oil Co. for 17 years and for the R. E. A for seven years. He retired in 1974.
He is survived by his widow and two children, Robert of Neosho, Missouri, and Marjorie Gettman of Fort Morgan, Colorado. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Jesse (Esther) McDonald of Darby, Mont.; and two brothers, Howard C. Allen of Fort Benton, and Durward E. Allen of Fort Morgan, Colo.; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday in Fort Morgan Christian Church, Fort Morgan, Colo. Interment will be in Fort Morgan Cemetery.
