Obituary from the Waconia Patriot newspaper dated Thursday, October 24, 1929:

Edward Beise Sr. passed away Sunday, October 13th, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. F. Gongoll at Mayer, after reaching the age of 84 years, 10 months and 1 day. The deceased came to this county from Germany in 1868 and settled on the old homestead in Minnetrista, Hennepin County. Here the children, two sons and four daughters, were born. Two daughters preceded their father in death. His companion passed away 23 years ago; since that time he has made his home with his daughter.

Funeral services were held at the home and the Baptist Church at St. Bonifacius, Reverend Heinemann and Reverend Juedes officiating. Pallbearers were six of his grandsons. Many of his neighbors and friends attended the funeral.

The bereaved wish to thank the Mayer Male Choir, The St. Bonifacius quartet and the pastors for the part they took in the services.

Obituary from the Waconia Patriot newspaper dated Thursday, October 24, 1929:

Edward Beise passed away on October 13th at 2:45 p.m. at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William Gongoll at Mayer, Minnesota. At the time of his death he was 84 years, 10 months and 1 day old. The cause of his death was attributed to heart failure.

Mr. Beise was born on December 12, 1844 in Geilitz (Girlitz?), Germany, and before coming to this country was married to Bertha Schmidt on March 13, 1868. Two weeks later, he with his wife, arrived at Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, where they lived for two years. They then came to this state and settled on the farm now occupied by George Maas, later moving on the farm now owned by Alfred Maas. On this farm he spent most of life. His wife died on September 22, 1906. This union was blessed with six children. With his children he farmed for some time until fifteen years ago, when he retired from active farming and spent his declining years with his children. The last several years he spent with his daughter and son-in-law at Mayer. Mr. Beise was well known in this community having spent almost sixty years here. He was one of the pioneer settlers here and had to endure many of the hardships of those days. In spite of this, he, like many other old settlers, reached a ripe old age.

Funeral services were held at two o'clock on Wednesday, October 16th at the Baptist church here, Reverend F. H. Heinemann and Reverend W. A. Juedes officiating. Burial was in the Baptist Cemetery. The pallbearers were six nephews: Raymond and Edgar Luedtke, Rolland and Clifford Beise, Stanley Gongoll and Edward Ramsinger. Those who carried flowers were Grace and Alice Luedtke, Hortense Gongoll and Evangeline Beise.

He is survived by two sons, Edward Beise Jr. of Kreston, Minnesota and William Beise of Lester Prairie, and two daughters, Mrs. William Gongoll of Mayer and Mrs. Frank Luedtke of St. Bonifacius. The village and community extend condolence to the bereaved relatives.
