Mrs. Aurelia Carrington

Mrs. Aurelia Stone Carrington was born in York, Medina county, Feb. 12, 1844. She was the daughter of Wililam B. and Melissa Brintnall Stone. Her girlhood was spent on her father's farm, and she received her education in the district school near her home, in the old Medina Select School, and in Oberlin. She taught in the neighborhood of her home and in Spring Valley and Xenia, O.

At the age of twenty-one, she was married to Samuel E. Carrington, of Weymouth, and went with him to Washington D.C., where they lived for six years. During part of her stay in Washington she taught in the public schools. About 1871 they removed to Norwalk, O., where Mr. Carrington practiced law. In 1879 they moved further west, going to Sacramento, Cal., on account of her husband's ill health. For over twenty years she had charge of the Chinese Mission School which was connected with the First Congregational church of Sacramento.

In 1899 her husband died leaving her with their two daughters, Belle and Alice. In 1903, Belle having married, she came to Oberlin to live with Alice who was studying there. In the fall of 1906 she moved to Chicago to give this daughter an opportunity for further musical advantages. There she remained until 1913 when her daughter married.

Her genial and sympathetic disposition won friends for her wherever she went. She was a most devoted mother. She was a most devoted mother. She kept in close touch with the leading questions of the day, was deeply interested in religious work, and was always especially sympatheic and helpful toward any one in sickness or any form of trouble.
