Found in the Florence Morning News 29 June 1954: Lake City, June 28, Joseph Boyd Esgitt died Sunday night at the home of his niece, Mrs. M. D. Miles of Wilmington, N. C. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Tabernacle Methodist Church of Evergreen, conducted by the Rev. Mr. Wilde. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Esgitt was born in Florence County, a son of the late W. H. and Mary Sweet Esgitt. He had no direct living descendents.
