Mary Jane Mauzy, 88, 910 Riverside Ave., widow of Muncie manufacturer Paul F. Mauzy, died Thursday in her home.
Mrs. Mauzy was born in Redkey to Henry M. and Victoria Loque Neely. She graduated from Dunkirk High School in 1915 and came to Muncie after her marriage in 1918.
Mrs. Mauzy was a member of Friends Memorial Church, the Eastern Star of Redkey for more than 70 years, Past Matrons Club, and International Order of Kings Daughters and Sons, Muncie, and was active in several community affairs.
Mrs. Mauzy's husband, Paul, died in 1973. He was president of Barclay Manufacturing Co., which he and the late Monroe Barber purchased in 1941 from Joseph Barclay. Mr. Mauzy sold his interest in the company when he retired in 1966.
In 1925, Mr. Mauzy organized Coulter Boiler and Sheet Iron Co., which he also served as president.
Survivors include her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, William H. and Ruth Mauzy McFadden, Muncie; four nieces, Carrol Albertson, Muncie, Lucille Thomas, Redkey, Barbara (Mrs. Robert) Heeter, Muncie, and Mrs. Woodrow Gideon, Greenville, S.C.; three nephews, Harry H. Thomas, Indianapolis, Robert Simes, Muncie, and Thomas Steck, Muncie; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Elm Ridge Cemetery, with Richard Newby, pastor of Friends Memorial Church, officiating.
There are no calling hours. Meeks Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
