Alice R. Gumbert, 85, of Flatwoods passed away at the home of her son in Ironton, Ohio, on Friday evening, July 22, 2011.

Alice was born in Greenup County, on June 20, 1926, to the late Carlos W. and Julia D. Redden-Blum.

She was a homemaker and member of First Assembly Church of God in Raceland.

Besides her mother and father, Mrs. Gumbert was preceded in death by her husband, Rosco Wells; three sisters, Lillian Minor, Ada Abrams and Imogene Gumbert; and a brother, Homer P. Blum.

She leaves behind three sons, Garry L. Gumbert of Greenup, Arnold R. Gumbert of Flatwoods and James E. Gumbert of Ironton; 11 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss her dearly.

Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Gumbert will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods, with words of comfort and encouragement spoken by Pastor Jim Wells. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
