"Hub" Imus, as he was familiarly known, was a whole souled, genial man, a typical Californian of the early days. If he had a dollar he would share it with a friend and give him the best In the house to cheer him along. He was one of the old time Santa Cruz boys and was among the first pupils in the local public school which was started here In the ' fifties.' "Hub" spent nearly his entire life In Santa Cruz. The Imus family were among the earliest settlers In Santa Cruz, residing in the Mission orchard in early days. Their home was always open to the travelers and many a good time pioneers had at "Uncle Hiram's" house.

Mr. Imus married Miss Minerva Rice, daughter of the late Judge Rice, of Blackburn Gulch. She was a most affectionate and devoted wife. While having a home in Santa Cruz, Mr. Imus had large ranching interests in Monterey Co. He was a man of great generosity and geniality, of an affectionate disposition and an exceedingly kind heart.
