Burial services for William R. Drew, 65, member of a pioneer eastern Oklahoma family who died Sunday in Tahlequah hospital following a brief illness, will be held this afternoon in Vinita cemetery with the Harris funeral home of Pryor in charge. Drew, son of Henry Drew and Ellen Covel Drew of Vinita, is survived by two sons, Albert Drew, somewhere in England, and Billy Drew of Wichita, Kan., and three sisters, Mrs. Al Cox and Miss Peggy Jim Drew, both of Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Nana Porter of Teresita, Okla. Graveside services for William R. Drew were held today at Fairview cemetery, under direction of a Pryor Funeral home. Drew was a former resident of Vinita, and for the past several years had made his home near Tahlequah. As a writer, he was familiar with early day history of Vinita, and at one time contributed the column "Smoke Rings" which was published in the Journal. Source: Vinita Daily Journal, July 11, 1944
