Funeral services for Sidney Murray, 81, of Wayne were held April 14, 2003 at
Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Bassett and the Rev.
Leroy Looper officiating. Interment was at Hillside Cemetery under the direction
of Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.
Mr. Murray died April 11, 2003 at his home in Wayne.
He was born Aug. 22, 1921 in Wayne, the oldest of five children of Cecil Velmar
Murray and Anna Jane Fielder Murray.
Mr. Murray married Lillian Clagg of Payne on May 17, 1941 in Purcell. Together
the couple lived in the Rosedale and Wayne communities most of their lives.
He worked as a farmer and rancher up until the age of 80.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Goldie Marie
Murray.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian Murray, of the home; one daughter, Janet
McGowen and her husband, Benny, of Wayne; two brothers, Melvin Murray and his
wife, Joan, of Maysville and C.V. Murray Jr. and his wife, June, of Wayne; one
sister, Naomi Murray of Maysville; two grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Terry McGowen, Kirk McGowen, D.W. Clagg, Erick Clagg, Matt
Clagg, Casey Clagg and Mickey McGowen.
Honorary pallbearers were Bill Powell, Joe McGowen, Sidney McGowen, Oliver Ray,
Warren Thompson and Leroy Looper.
