On Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1920, he married Anna Jane(Fielder). They had five children: Sidney Everett Murray, Melvin Richard Murray, Goldie Marie Murray (died when 2 days old), Anna Naomi Murray Gallup Sharp and Cecil Velmar "Junior" Murray, Jr. He was a farmer/rancher in the Wayne, OK area until his retirement, after which he and Anna purchased a small acreage NE of Wayne. He then worked at Wilson Rug Factory in Wayne, OK and operated a truck farm selling vegetables to the community.
