Jose Eleive was born hearing impaired. It is known that two other children, Fidel and Benerito, were also born with a hearing impairment.
Eleive excelled in sports with his brother Fidel. Later in life he was kicked by a horse which caused irreversible brain damage and abnormal behavior. He never married and was eventually placed in a Nursing Home where he died.
