Daughter of Buenaventura and Maria Crucita (Lucero) Romero. Married Desiderio Castro in Dec 20,1885 in Trinidad, Colorado.

Was the mother of over twenty children, including at least three sets of twins.

Mrs. Bernice Castro - World Independent – December 9, 1946 - Mrs. Bernice Castro, 77, a resident of Huerfano County for the past 36 years, died at her home at 103 Champa Street, Loma Park, early Friday evening.

She was born in Taos, N.M. March 6, 1869. Survivors include eight sons, Epifanio Castro of San Pablo; Silverio of Mazanola; Filiberto of Walsenburg; Fidel of Colorado Springs; Jose E., Raymond, and Ernest of Walsenburg, and Tobias of Denver.

Also six daughters, Mrs. Placido Armentas of Avondale; Mrs. Mary Martinez of Walsenburg; Mrs. Anastacia Castro of Loma Park; Mrs. Mike Gonzales of Fowler; Mrs. Otillia Duran of Trinidad, and Mrs. Bennie LaFever of Denver.

She is also survived by 90 grandchildren and by 45 great grandchildren.

Rosary services will be held this evening at 7:30 at the Furphy chapel here and funeral services will be Tuesday morning at 9:30 at the mortuary chapel and at 10 o'clock at the St. Mary church. Interment will be in the Valdez cemetery, under the direction of Furphy's.
