Evelyn Lucille Zaleski Farquhar

Evelyn Lucille Zaleski Farquhar, devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend was called home to be with our Lord on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 from Houston, Texas.

Evelyn was born the daughter of Joe Pete Zaleski and Emilie Slavik Zaleski Hearell on December 15, 1944 in Cameron, Texas.

She grew up and attended school in Temple, Texas, but also spent much of her childhood on her mother's family's farm near Cameron where she always enjoyed to return and visit.

After moving to Houston, Evelyn met and married the love of her life, Brian Farquhar, in 1965. They then moved out to the Fairchild area in 1972 where Evelyn planted her roots and devoted herself to the welfare of her family and that of her husband's small business, Farquhar Steel & Construction. She thrived on helping to run the business with Brian for over 40 years. Evelyn enjoyed caring for and harvesting the Satsuma oranges and other citrus trees that she and Brian grew, attending any events in which her children or grandkids participated, traveling to Louisiana to try her luck and also scratching many Lotto tickets. Of course, Evelyn's favorite pastime was spending time with her family and especially with her 7 grandchildren to whom she was known as "Granny" with much affection. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Needville and a 50 year member of RVOS where her Grandfather, Joseph Slavik, served on the Board.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Joe P. Zaleski and Emilie and James Hearell, brothers Jerome and Ernie Zaleski and infant grandson, Brandon Hernandez.

She leaves behind the grieving heart of her husband of 45 years, Brian D. Farquhar; children Melissa Hernandez and husband Ruben, Brian(Trooper) Farquhar II and wife Tara, Patricia Farquhar and Chad Farquhar and wife Christine; nine grandchildren; brother, Bill Zaleski and wife Linda; sister, Joyce Vandergriff and husband Tom; brother, Gene Zaleski and brother Richard Hearell and wife Linda; an aunt, Ann Bledsoe; her loving mother-in-law Dorothy M. Farquhar; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and wonderful friends.
