Vernon James Warfield, 60, was found dead at 11:30 a.m. Monday in the yard of his home. Warfield was a pump operator in the York drainage district, south of Savanna, for 27 years. He moved to Mt, Carroll about one year ago. Born in York Township, Carroll County, he served 14 months overseas during World War I. Survivors include his widow; a daughter, Rosemary; and two sons, Stanley and Edward, all of Mt. Carroll; two brothers, Albert of Lanark, and Henry of Thomson; and four sisters, including Mrs. John La Shelle, Thomson. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Church of God, Mt. Carroll, with Rev. William Kendall, Mllledgevllle, and Rev. Curl V. Binkley, pastor of the Mt. Carroll Church, officiating.
