Jesse was a twin brother to Jacob Himes. He married Nancy J. Makin about 1853. Jesse served with the 149th Regiment, Pennsylvania Infantry, Company F as a Private, Union side. He was reported killed at the battle of Wilderness, Virginia on 5th of May 1864, but was wounded in battle and was in the hospital. Also was reported returning home in 1870 and his former wife, Nancy J. (Makin) Himes had remarried.

Jesse and Nancy had four children: Frederick, John A., Marietta, and William J. Himes.

JESSE HIMES,

Aged 82, died at the Altoona hospital at 8:37 o'clock on Monday evening after a lingering illness. He suffered from carcinoma of the stomach and was admitted to the hospital dispensary on March 7, 1924. He has no relatives in this locality, a son residing in Denver, Colo. The remains were taken, in charge by Funeral Directors Lafferty & Tobias and will be held pending word from relatives.
