August Hoffman, well known farmer of Orion Township, died suddenly at 11:30 am, on Monday, May 28th from heart failure following a two weeks illness with pneumonia. Mr. Hoffman was born in Wisconsin on June 8th, 1880, and June 11th, 1902 he was married to Miss Ida Mundstock. Three years later they came to Chatfield and settled on the farm north of town. He had not yet reached his 43rd birthday and was a hardworking and prosperous young farmer. His death in a great blow to his family, his wife and nine children surviving. The children, who all live at home, are: Sadie, Irene, Herman, Arthur, Alvera, Ruth, Reuben, Nora, and Helen. A short service of prayer was held at his late home at one o'clock yesterday afternoon and the funeral conducted from St. Paul's Lutheran Church, of Chatfield, at 2:30, the pastor, Rev. Wohlert, officiating. Burial was made in the Lutheran cemetery.
