Stanley Acuff, 79, of Ottawa, formerly of Deer Park Township, died Friday morning, July 22, at the La Salle County Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, at Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa with the Rev. Paul Bladen, pastor of Deer Park Community Church, officiating. Burial will be in Deer Park Cemetery where full military rites will be conducted. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the services Tuesday.
Mr. Acuff was born on Sept. 9, 1931, in Deer Park Township, to Raymond and Ada (Logan) Acuff. He was a 1949 graduate of Ottawa Township High School. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
He married Patricia Duggan on Jan. 3, 1972, in Joliet.
Mr. Acuff farmed and owned and operated Acuff Nitrogen Service, and had served on the Deer Park School Board, the Deer Park Township Board and the Deer Park Cemetery Board.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; children, Dan (Karen Ranger) Acuff of Ottawa, Debra Krug of Morris and Shelly (James) Dunsmoor of Augusta, Kan.; a daughter-in-law, Irene Smart of Parker, Colo.; and three grandchildren, Greg and David Dunsmoor and Ryan Krug.
Mr. Acuff was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia; a son, Scott; his parents; his stepmother, Hannah; and one brother, Wayne.
Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association, Deer Park Cemetery or Deer Park Church.
Pallbearers will be William Boyd, William Sherman Jr., William Sherman III, Kurt Callahan, Randy Michelini and Robert Miller. Honorary pallbearer will be Wendell Cofoid.
