Rosella was born May 19, 1925 in White Lake, South Dakota to Nick and Erma (Mairose) Weires. She graduated from White Lake Independent School in 1942; then attended Notre Dame College in Mitchell, South Dakota, where she received her teaching degree in 1943. During high school she worked at Warrell Drug Store. Upon graduation from Notre Dame, Rosella taught for 7 years at Martin, Helling, Gillen and Wilmarth Schools.
She was united in marriage to Carl Bogenhagen on May 15, 1952 in White Lake. In 1960, they moved to the original Bogenhagen homestead south of White Lake where they farmed until 2000.
Throughout her life, along with being a wonderful and loving wife and mother, Rosella worked at Meiers Market, Lynn's Grocery and for 17 years at the Aurora-Brule Nursing Home, were she had resided the past year prior to her death.
Rosella was a charter member of the Town and Country Gals Club. In 2008 she received their 50 Year Member plaque. She was an active member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in White Lake, their Altar Society and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Those grateful for having shared in Rosella's life include: one son, Don Bogenhagen and wife, Kathy of Kimball, SD; five daughters: Donna Bogenhagen, Carol Korzan and husband, Michael all of Prior Lake, MN, Doris Marek and husband, Tom of Apple Valley, MN, Julie Ertz and husband, Dewey of Box Elder, SD and Arlene Koch and husband, Brad of White Lake, SD; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and one sister, Maggie Oster of Pinolo, CA.
Rosella was preceded in death by her husband, Carl (Jan. 8, 2000); her parents, Nick and Erma Weires; and one sister, LaVonne Mickelson.
