UTICA — George C. Hennington Sr. died Sunday, July 17, 2011, at his residence in Utica. He was 87.

A native of Wesson, he had lived most of his adult life in Hinds County. He was a disabled veteran, serving in the Army Air Force in World War II. He was forced from his B-24 bomber and became a POW.

He was a member of the Utica Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Curtis Hennington; and a grandson, Yancey Reed.

Survivors include his daughter, Joyce Jimenez of Raymond; three sons, George Hennington Jr. of Vicksburg, Kenneth Hennington of Utica and Thomas Hennington of Metairie, La.; and eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Marvin Curtis officiating. Burial will follow at the Utica Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.
