Romaine L. "Sonny" Rogers, 68, of Rutland, died July 19, 2011, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., following a brief illness.

He was born Oct. 7, 1942, in Bridgewater, the son of Romaine A. and Evelyn (Stocker) Rogers.

He served with the U.S. Army 9th Calvary Division during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Rogers was a self-employed mechanic and worked for many years as a motor route carrier for Rutland News and the Rutland Herald. At one time, he also operated Rogers Refuse Removal and worked for Jean Rogers Carpet Cleaning.

Survivors include two brothers, Bernard of Shrewsbury and Donald Rogers of Rutland, and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Cecil and David Rogers.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 23, at the Barnard Funeral Home in Pittsford, where friends may call from noon prior to the service, followed by burial in Village Cemetery in Cavendish and a reception at the home of Don and Jean Rogers in Rutland.
