Professional baseball umpire. Drummond umpired in the American League from 1960 to 1969. He began his career as an umpire in the Alabama State League in 1948 and later worked in the Georgia State League, South Atlantic League, and International League until he made his major league debut on April 18, 1960. The following year he was chosen to work the 1961 Major League Baseball All-Star Game. In 1966, Drummond umpired in the World Series between the Baltimore Orioles and Los Angeles Dodgers. He was hit in the head with a foul ball during a game in 1969 and was left unconscious for about two weeks while recovering from brain surgery. He did not return to the majors, but on May 1, 1970, he joined the umpiring staff of the American Association. While working a game in Des Moines, Iowa the following day, Drummond collapsed in the dugout and died the next day from a cerebral infarct.
