She was born April 28, 1919 in Buffalo, the daughter of the late Royal D. and Olive Dysinger Strickland.
She was a graduate of Akron Central High School in Akron, N.Y. She retired in 1984 from Weber Knapp in Falconer, N.Y. and she was also a home maker.
She grew up on her fathers 80 acre Apple and Fruit Orchard and raised many farm animals. She had a favorite horse, named Topsy and a pet lamb, large enough to sit on, she also had pictures to prove it.
As a child, she attended the Hunts Corner Baptist Church in Akron. She later joined the Randolph United Presbyterian Church. She was also a 25 year member of the Order of Eastern Star and was a member of the Randolph Garden Club. She also enjoyed bowling, working in her yard, flower gardening and camping. Frances loved spending time with her family and friends, as well as helping out with many church functions.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan Rounds of Henderson, Nev., Cindy L. Groves of Randolph, N.Y.; seven grandchildren, Sonya J. (John Pearson) Ribblett of Port Allegany, Pa., Arnold "Barry" (Laurie Mattson) of Warren, Pa., Steven (Suzette) Wilson of Greenhurst, Lee R. (Dawn) Milliman of Randolph, Jamie (Steve) Bias of Salamanca, Robin (Herb) Martin of West Seneca and Wendy Harring of New Mexico; a sister, Jeanette Douglas of Nevada; and several greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert "Scotty" Hogue, whom she married on December 23, 1942 and who preceded her on December 24, 1985; her step mother, Ruth Cummings, who raised her since the death of her mother when she was two weeks old; two granddaughters, Zenith Beth Keller in 1963 and Vickie Sue Groves in 1968; brothers Demerle, Roymine and Calvin Strickland; and a sister, Arlene Thomas.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday in the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church Street, Randolph, N.Y., where the family will receive friends from 10 to 12 p.m. Rev.
