Betty was born on September 29, 1918 in Lafayette to the late Byron J. Morehouse and Edna E. (Brier) Morehouse.
She graduated from Purdue University with degree in Education.
On March 15, 1947, she married Robert Ray at the Mount Zion Methodist Church in West Lafayette. He preceded her in death on June 20, 1989.
Betty was a teacher in the Wallace, Boswell, Linden, and Lafayette schools. She retired as the Home Economics Teacher for Lafayette School Corporation in 1978. She had also worked as a Home Extension Agent for 4 years.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, Extension Homemakers, Indiana Retired Teacher's Association, and Home Hospital Auxiliary. Betty loved to dance, sew, travel, and cook.
Betty is survived by her son Greg Ray of Lafayette and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, David Robert Ray, brothers, Ralph Morehouse and Vincent J. Morehouse, and a sister, Eleanor Arihood.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 15 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Fisher-Loy Funeral Chapel. Services will be on Tuesday at 1 p.m., with Rev. Paul Arnold officiating. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery.
Memorial Donations may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church or to the Lebanon Methodist Children's Home in loving memory of Betty.
