Cochrane, (Ret.), MSGT Charles
MSGT Charles C. Cochrane, USAF (Ret.), 82, of Peoria passed away peacefully July 17, 2011 surrounded by his family. He was born on January 20, 1929 in Northville, MI to the late Clifford and Madeline Cochrane. Chuck served in the Air Force for 26 years and was a WWII, Korean Conflict and Vietnam Veteran. He was part of the reopening of Luke Air Force Base in 1951. Chuck received many commendations and medals throughout his military career. After retiring from the Air Force he worked for the Glendale School District as a maintenance superintendent for 11 years. Chuck is survived by his wife Betty, four children Timothy (Ann) Cochrane, Janece Culp, Susan (Frank) Brodish, Gary (Debbie) Patterson, stepdaughter Kathy Stambaugh. Also surviving is a sister Barbara Sullivan, 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his first wife Shirley C. Cochrane, their son Terry and two brothers. Over the years Chuck and Shirley took in foster children many of whom are still part of the family. A celebration of Chuck's life will be held on Monday, July 25, 2011 at 10AM at Heritage Funeral Chapel, 6830 W. Thunderbird Road, Peoria. Burial with full military honors will follow at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, Phoenix. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley, Fund Development, 1510 E. Flower St. Phoenix, Arizona 85014
