Jennie, Mrs. Cornelius "Neal" Rus, died at the Pella community hospital Thursday, March 24 at the age of 85 years. She was born in Mahaska county, Mar. 26, 1891, the daughter of Dirk and Dena (Bierma) Van Ryswyk. At Prairie City Feb. 5, 1913, she was married to Cornelius Rus who preceded her in death Feb. 25, 1964.

Mrs. Rus is survived by her five children: Peter D. Rus; Evalena, Mrs. Dan Witzenberg and Aletta, Mrs. Andrew Hiemstra, all of Pella; Dick Rus of Granville, Mich., and Alma, Mrs. John H. Vos of Pella. There are eighteen grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren surviving her along with two brothers and one sister. They are: Hessell Van Ryswyk of Pella and John Van Ryswyk of Texas and Evalena, Mrs. Gerrit Branderhorst of Prairie City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; two grandchildren; four brothers: Dick, Henry, Arie and Pieter Van Ryswyk and also three sisters: Algie Van Ryswyk; Barbara, Mrs. John Boertje and Johanna, Mrs. Bert Steenhoek.

Mrs. Rus was a long time member of the First Christian Reformed church of Pella making profession of her faith at an early age. She was an active member of the Senior Helping Hands Society for many years. She was a resident of Fair Heaven of Pella for the past five years.

Funeral services were held from the First Christian Reformed church of Pella, Saturday, March 26, 1977 at 2 p.m. with family prayer services at 1:45 p.m. Rev. Jerome Julien officiated. Ivan Mulder sang "0 That Will Be Glory" and the congregation sang "In the Sweet Communion" accompanied by Mrs. Gysbert Ver Meer.

Flower attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Rus and Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Van Andel. Casket bearers were: Wilbur, John and Dick Van Ryswyk, Donald Boertje, William Branderhorst and Darrell Steenhoek.

Burial was in Oakwood cemetery of Pella with arrangements by Garden Chapel.
