GALLUP — Memorial services for Anita Lorraine Schmaltz, 82, will be 10 a.m., Monday, July 11, at First Baptist Church, Gallup. The Rev. Jay McCollum will officiate. Private disposition will in Sunset Memorial Park.

Schmaltz died July 4, 2011, in Gallup. She was born Feb. 8, 1929, in Winslow.

Schmaltz graduated from Winslow High School in 1947. She was a dedicated housewife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening, loved to watch movies and going on picnics.

Survivors include her sons, Michael Schmaltz, Steven Schmaltz, both of Gallup; daughters, Pamela Schmaltz of Gallup, Valerie Tanner of Farmington; sister, Marjorie Whiting of Taylor; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

Schmaltz was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Schmaltz; parents, Lyman Bates and Margaret Bates; three sisters; two brothers.
The family will receive relatives and friends at First Baptist Church, following services.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Octavia Fellin Library in memory of Anita Schmaltz.
