Simmons Altaha, 79, entered eternal rest July 7, 2011, in Whiteriver. He was born April 4, 1932, at R-14 Ranch, Cedar Creek to parents Olga and Marion (Tenijieth) Altaha.
Simmons was a member of the Cedar Creek Assembly of Church and loved to worship the Lord. He left a legacy of his strong faith in God. He enjoyed watching sports: NBA, NFL and Major League baseball. He read the newspaper to keep up with events. He enjoyed spending time with his family and relatives and he was always sharing words of wisdom and advice. He will be greatly missed, but held dear in the hearts of his family, relatives and friends.
His survivors include his brother, Carl Altaha, three daughters: Dejean (Altaha) Rodriguez, Ruby Altaha, and Janet (Altaha) Scott; two sons: Joey Altaha and Stephen Altaha; and seven grandchildren: Alex (Shash) Rodriguez, Jr., Hershel N. Altaha, Emilio J. Altaha, Naomi Hope Altaha, Darryl L. Gushoney and David M. Scott, great-grandson, Tyrell D. Gushoney, sons-in-law: Alex Rodriguez, Delbert Altaha Jr. and David C. Scott. Simmons is also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Altaha was brought back to his home in Cedar Creek for a one night wake Monday July 11. Funeral were held July 12, 2011 at Cedar Creek Assembly of God with Pastor Alvin Martinez officiating. Burial followed at the Mourning Dove Cemetery.
