James Richard Thomas Gould (1861 - 1941) was born on June 24, 1861, in Columbiana, Shelby, Alabama to his proud parents, James A. Gould (1828 - 1905) & Anne Simpson (1829 - 1891).

James Richard Thomas Gould (1861 - 1941) was born "Richard Thomas Gould" but only days before his Father, James A. Gould (1828 - 1905) left to fight for the Confederacy during the American Civil War & not having a namesake, being very uncertain of his fate during the War, he placed his given name of "James" in front of his new born sons name of "Richard Thomas Gould" thereby making him known as "James Richard Thomas Gould" from that point forward.

James Richard Thomas Gould (1861 - 1941) at the age of 20 years in 1881, relocated from Columbiana, Shelby, Alabama to Lake, Scott, Mississippi by Horse Back with his first Cousin, Frank Gould who was the son of Thomas Monroe Gould (1835 - 1902) whose young family had relocated there years earlier in 1865 just after the American Civil War.

James Richard Thomas Gould (1861 - 1941) married Margaret Laura Moore (1864 - 1897) in Lake, Scott, Mississippi on November 28, 1885, from which 5 children resulted from this union: "Baby Girl" Gould (1886 - 1886), Crecie Ann Gould (1888 - 1954), Isaac Gould (1889 - 1939), Herbert Gould (1891 - 1987) & Charles J. Gould (1895 - 1896). Margaret Laura Moore Gould passed away at her home on June 20, 1897.
