Mrs. Bradeen was preceded in death by her husband, Donald in 1973, her friend, John K. Sherman in 2008, and three grandchildren; Michael Spannaus, Elizabeth Bradeen and Rebecca Bradeen. She is survived by her five children; Nancy (Ed) Spannaus, Lt. Col. (Retired) Robert (Ellen) Bradeen, Dr. David Bradeen, Judith Bradeen and Susan (David) Haimes. She will also be lovingly remembered by her nine grandchildren and four great grandsons.
Mary Lou, a proud "Mainer," came to Cincinnati with her husband, Donald in 1954. Dr. Donald Bradeen was a Classics Professor at the University of Cincinnati and became head of the department before his sudden death by heart attack at the age of 54 years. Mary Lou continued an active life, especially within the community of Immanuel Presbyterian Church (Clifton), where she served in many functions, including on the Session and as Church Treasurer. She maintained close connections with her far-flung family, driving long distances each year to visit them. She was also an avid and skilled bridge player-an activity she and her husband shared.
Twenty-seven years after her husband's death, Mary Lou was blessed to find a loving companion and friend in John K. Sherman. In 2002, she moved to the Llanfair Retirement Community, She died of a severe stroke suffered on September 16, 2008.
