Hugh was the son of Elijah and Mary Elizabeth "Morrow" Bingham. He married (1) Mary Valient "Mollie" West on 12 Dec 1872 in Cadaretta, Webster Co., MS. They were the parents of 10 children. They moved to Bosque Co., TX about 1878. Sometime after Mollie died in 1910, he married (2) Melissa Toler.
