Robert L. Cooney. Former Orleans Resident, Expires
Robert Lee Cooney, 76-year-old life insurance company executive, who spent most of his early life in New Orleans, died Sunday at his home in Altanta.
A native of Seaford, Del., Mr. Cooney was first employed by the New York Life Insurance Company as an office boy when he was 14 years old. Later he was cashier of the New Orleans office.
When he was 21, he moved to Atlanta as a director of the agency there. He was later named inspector of agencies and finally became inspector of agencies at large. he celebrated his 61st anniversary with the company January 8 but for the last two months had not been active.
Surviving him are his widow; a daughter, Mrs. Gordon Boswell of New Orleans; three sisters, Mrs. Emery Cooney Lively of New Orleans, Mrs. I. Cochran of San Antonio and Mrs. Francis K. von Ficht of Chicago, and a brother, John M. Cooney of Griffin, Ga.
Funeral services will be held in Atlanta this afternoon (20 Jan 1941-LVH).
