James Fauver was the son of Frederick and Phoebe Edwards Fauver of Pittsgrove, Salem, New Jersey. James married Mary Facemire on 26 Oct 1816 in Cumberland Co, New Jersey. They are believed to have raised at least five children (see bio of Mary Facemire Fauver for additional details).
James was a veteran of the War of 1812. He served as a Private in the New Jersey Detailed Militia, Major Isaac Andruss' Detachment of Infantry, Capt. Jason Ogden's Company. This unit was called up on an emergency basis, soon after the declaration of war. They marched to Paulus Hoeck (Jersey City), then were stationed at Fort Richmond (aka Fort Wadsworth), Staten Island, N.Y; this fort guarded the entrance to New York harbor, at The Narrows. James was enrolled in the militia on 29 Aug 1812, to serve until relieved; he was discharged 25 Sept 1812.
James' father, Frederick, was a Revolutionary War Patriot who fought for American freedom as part of the New Jersey Militia.
