Jacob H. Iles of Eugene died at 8 o'clock on last Monday morning, and his funeral will occur at 2 o'clock this afternoon. His death was no surprise to his relatives and friends, who have been expecting the worst for several weeks. He first took sick last April, and has been slowly growing worse ever since. His disease was amyloid of the liver, a degeneration of that organ. A postmortem examination revealed the fact that his liver weighed 5 pounds more than normal. The deceased was born in this county in 1833, making him 68 years of age. His wife died about one year ago. No children survive them. His father died on the old Iles homestead on July 29, 1863, and his mother March 23, 1886.
Jacob was a prosperous farmer and was in good circumstances. His estate will to his brother, James B. Iles, and Mrs. Martha J. Naylor, his sister, they being the only survivors nearest of kin. The deceased was a good citizen, honorable, and upright, and was respected and esteemed by all his neighbors and acquaintances. His death is a loss to the community.
