Abram Longyear was the son of Johannes Longyear and Annajte Winne.

On Oct 27, 1812 he married Jane Rogers (1789-1853), whose sister, Elizabeth Rogers, married Abram's nephew, Andrew Longyear. Andrew & Elizabeth are buried in Hudler Cemetery, as is Abrams's sister, Annajte "Anna" Longyear Winne.

According to "The Descendants of Jacob Longyear of Ulster County, New York" by Edmund J Longyear, 1942: "He was a farmer, a Methodist, a great hunter and trapper and a soldier in the War of 1812". This source also states that "Abraham" Longyear died 1 Aug 1890 in Kingston, but the attached newspaper obituary published in The Kingston Daily Freeman, Kingston, NY, Wednesday, October 9, 1889 states that he died on 8 Oct 1889 in Kingston.

This memorial was originally created in the Hudler Cemetery (source was Old Tombstones of Ulster County, New York, J Wilson Poucher, 1930) but newspaper obituary states he was buried in Family Burial Ground at Phoenicia, probably unmarked grave
