Lee Harris Dead
The community was shocked Monday morning by the announcement that Mr. Lee Harris had passed away late Sunday night in Handy's sanitarium at Ardmore, followed a few short days illness of pneumonia. The remains were brought to Purcell on the evening train Monday and the funeral services were held Tusday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the family residence in the south part of the city, with the local lodge of Woodmen of the World in charge of the funeral rites. After a short service at the home, the ceremonis were concluded at the Hillside cemetery, where interment was made. A large gathering of friends wre present to pay their last respects to their friend of many years.
Lee Harris came to Purcell a few months after the town was started. Through the rough frontier life of pioneer days, his honesty, integrity, loyalty remained always the same. These sterling traits of character, together with his big whole souled personality, won him many friends. He was of a sunny, open hearted disposition and the wife and three sons, who remain to mourn his departure, are consoled by the real kindness he always gave them. The deceased was aged 56 years and a few months and had been enjoying the best of health when the dreaded pneumonia laid its heavy hand upon him and claimed him.
To the sorrowing relatives, The Register, with a world of friends extends a word of sincere sympathy.
