In this city, April 28, 1906, Catherine, dearly beloved wife of the late John McCarthy, loving mother of Mrs. M.G. Beirne, Mrs. J.J. O'Rourke and Lizzie McCarthy and the late James McCarthy, and grandmother of Gertrude McCarthy, a native of Mallow, County Cork, Ireland, aged 68 years 4 months and 23 days.
Funeral will take place tomorrow (Monday) at 8 a.m., from the residence of her daughter, Mrs. M.G. Beirne, 3671 23d street, near Dolores, thence to St. James Church, where a solemn requiem mass will be celebrated for the repose of her soul, commencing at 8:30 a.m. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.

NOTE: In Feb. 1899, James McCarthy drowned while fishing from the pier below the Cliff House in San Francisco. A large wave broke over him, knocking him from the pier & swept him out to sea; his body was never recovered.
