MRS. ELI WAPLES
DIED IN LAFAYETTE
Was Prominent Resident but was
born in this County and Well
Known in Brookston.
Mrs. Eli Waples, a highly respected
woman of Lafayette and a resident
for more than thirty years,
passed aw ay last Thursday night
from dropsy. Mrs. Waples had
been a patient sufferer for two
years. She w as born in White
county March 22, 1855, the daughter
of the late John T. McBroom, of
Brookston. She was married to Eli
Waples July 1, 1875, and besides
her husband she is survived by five
children: John, Roy and Benjamin,
the latter of New port, Ky., and Mrs.
Edward Wagner and Mrs. Frank
Kanur, of Lafayette. She also
leaves one brother, M. M. McBroom,
of Topeka, Kan. All w ere at her
bedside when she passed away.
Mrs. Waples w as an earnest member
of the Baptist church at Brookston.
The funeral w as held at the
family residence Friday afternoon,
Rev. J. G. York officiating. The
burial was made in Springvale cemetery.
