The Correctionville News, 10 December 1936, page 8: Robert T. Baldwin, 68, was born in New York State and at the age of seven months came with his parents to Jones County, Iowa, where they lived until he was 19 years old. The family then moved to the Washta community. On December 8, 1891, he married Cora Kissinger, daughter of one of Washta's pioneers, who still lives and is known as Grandma Kissinger of Washta. The young couple immediately started farming near Washta and 20 years ago bought the place 2 ½ miles northeast of Washta where they have since resided. Mr. Baldwin died in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Clarence Blue, as Mrs. Baldwin is very ill and better care could be given if the work was divided. Surviving are his widow, three daughters, Mrs. Ola Hatch of Sioux City, Mrs. Alice Blue of Washta, and Mrs. Minnie Hagedorn of Worthington, Minnesota; two sons, Ray and Walter both of Washta; five grandchildren; four brothers, Charles, Edward and William of Cushing, and Joseph of Akron. Funeral services were held in the Federated Church at Washta on Tuesday at 2 p.m. with Rev. H.C. Havinghurst of Schaller officiating. Interment was made in the Washta Cemetery under direction of Brink Funeral Home.
