Mr. Garman was born March 31, 1933, in Diamond, Iowa. He was retired from the U.S. Army as a Sergeant Major.
Survivors include his wife, Brunhilde; two sons, Steve of New Cambria and Alex of Columbia, Mo.; five daughters, Petra Craddock, Heidelinde Arellano, Hannelore Hemmy and Paulette Guzman all of Salina, and Margrit Barber of Centerville, Iowa; three sisters, Rowena Hale, Dorothy Barrickman and Janice Franklin all of Centerville; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three stepgranchildren; and a step great-grandchild.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Roselawn Heights Memorial Chapel, 1920 E. Crawford, Salina 67401. Burial will be in Fort Riley Post Cemetery.
