Monte Jo Prude, 77, of Midland passed away on Friday, March 11, 2005, at the Hospice of Midland Inpatient Unit at Midland Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held Monday, March 14, 2005 at the Fairmont Park Church of Christ with Scott Sheppard, and Don Mitchell, officiating. Interment followed at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland.

Monte was born on March 30, 1927, in Quanah, Texas to Robert and Virginia (Ray) Kelley.

She met Bill Prude while attending Abilene Christian College and they married on November 20, 1948 in Abilene. They moved to Midland that year. To that union was born four wonderful sons, the delights of her life.

One of her favorite activities was baking pecan pies for the men at Fairmont Park Church of Christ on their birthdays. She has baked more than 1700 pies in the last 15 years and is affectionately known as "the pie lady." She enjoyed playing bridge and visiting with friends. She was a member of Fairmont Park Church of Christ. Monte was a volunteer with the jail ministry at church. She also volunteered with VIP Senior Services.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, V.W. Kelley of San Angelo, and a sister, Virginia Estes, of Amarillo.
